Niteblade – March 2009

Sentry

Wizened little face
perched atop his tiny
doll-sized body
in his garish yellow shirt
and threadbare bright red trousers
peering ’round the bedroom door
down the hallway
alert for any signs of life.

His stomach rumbles
and his back is to the action
the giant creaking bed
where the other gnomes are busy
feasting on the human boy.
