Lost Innocence Poll

June 6th, 2008 by Niteblade

Usually the only person who gets a vote on what stories and poems get included in an issue of Niteblade is me. Usually.  However, for the print anthology we’ll be putting out as Issue #5 of Niteblade, Lost Innocence, everyone gets a vote :)

Head on over to the Lost Innocence poll and vote for your favorite story and poem from the first four issues of Niteblade. Remember Informed votes > uninformed ones, so if you haven’t already, take a few minutes to read some of the work from previous issues instead of voting blindly.

Unless, of course, you’re voting for your own work, in that case, blind voting is all the rage ;)

Almost December

November 9th, 2007 by Niteblade

It’s almost December! NaNoWriMo may have eaten my brain, but it hasn’t consumed my life and I’ve still be working hard on the December issue of Niteblade.

When we say hello to Issue Two, we need to say goodbye to the Issue One merchandise however, so the clock is ticking if you want to show your support of Niteblade artists and authors and get some kick ass Issue One swag at the same time.

All the profits, when we start seeing profits, from sales of the .pdf versions of Niteblade, the calendars, mouse pads and other goodies from the store and even ad-space will go directly toward paying the artists and writers who make Niteblade possible a little more for their efforts. When Issue Two comes out you will still be able to get the .pdf versions of Issue one, but you will not be able to get goodies featuring the art of Issue One — they will be shunted to the side to make room for Issue Two memorabilia — so act now, if you don’t want to miss out!

September 2007 Issue

August 31st, 2007 by Niteblade

The September 2007 Issue is live and online. I think I’ll let it speak for itself.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making this happen, especially Marge Simon and Jonathan Parrish, without whom it wouldn’t have been possible. :)

Hosting Problems

August 28th, 2007 by Niteblade

My host seems to be having some rather serious issues this week.  So far they haven’t affected me significantly and I’m hoping it stays that way so the September 1st launch can come off as planned.  My fingers aren’t crossed so much as screwed together.

Here’s hoping…

Almost September

August 22nd, 2007 by Niteblade

It’s almost September!  I’m so excited.  The web-based version is finished and just waiting for me to press the upload button at 12:01am September 1st — that is assuming I manage to resist the urge to put it up early :)

The .pdf version will be ready in time for launch as well — it’s kind of scary how smoothly things are going — have I mentioned that already?  It is.

The December issue is filling up wonderfully as well, but I shouldn’t start talking about it until after September’s issue gets launched, should I? :)

September Draws Near

August 10th, 2007 by Niteblade

I’m getting so excited, September is almost here!  The web-based version of the magazine is almost ready for release and the .pdf version is being worked on as well.  It looks like the first issue is going to be ready on time and without any major headaches (assuming I didn’t just jinx myself).

As if that weren’t exciting enough, and I think it is, the line up for the December issue is also incredibly impressive — but there are still plenty of spots open on it.  Once the September issue is out and under my belt, December’s should be smooth sailing.  Wow, I’m really tempting fate here aren’t I?  Regardless, it’s a very exciting time right now, and I just can’t wait until September 1st!

September Fiction Submits Filled

June 25th, 2007 by Niteblade

While there are still some empty poetry slots in the September 1, 2007 issue of Niteblade, all of the fiction slots have been filled.  I owe that to the incredible response from wonderfully talented writers :)  Please keep the submissions coming, there are still lots of spaces for the December 2007 issue and every one after that.

I’m restricting the first issue to 13 stories, but if we have the same sort of reactions from readers as we’ve seen from writers that number could grow in coming issues.

Like I say, keep the submissions coming, especially poetry, there’s plenty of space left in the first issue for poems.

Whispers of Wickedness

June 6th, 2007 by Niteblade

Wow. I’ve just been going through the bios of those writers whose work will be showing up in Niteblade’s Issue 1 and a disproportionately high number of them found me through the forums at Whispers of Wickedness — in fact, the numbers are so biased that I thought it worth giving a shout out.

Whoever posted Niteblade’s URL there I thank you.

ISSN

May 17th, 2007 by Niteblade

Niteblade’s ISSNs arrived in my inbox today — that’s exciting. That means we are one step closer to being ready to go. September 1st looked like a long way away when I first set it as a deadline, but now it seems to be looming closer and closer. I’m torn between stressing that I won’t have everything ready and being incredibly excited.

Please keep the submissions coming, I love reading them all.
