Lost Innocence Poll

June 6th, 2008 by Niteblade

Usually the only person who gets a vote on what stories and poems get included in an issue of Niteblade is me. Usually.  However, for the print anthology we’ll be putting out as Issue #5 of Niteblade, Lost Innocence, everyone gets a vote :)

Head on over to the Lost Innocence poll and vote for your favorite story and poem from the first four issues of Niteblade. Remember Informed votes > uninformed ones, so if you haven’t already, take a few minutes to read some of the work from previous issues instead of voting blindly.

Unless, of course, you’re voting for your own work, in that case, blind voting is all the rage ;)

Issue #4: The Gnome’s Spectacles

May 31st, 2008 by Niteblade

The newest issue of Niteblade is out. Issue #4: The Gnome’s Spectacles is going live right now…early. How’s that for a bit of awesomeness? And when it comes to awesomeness, let me tell you, this issue is chock-full of it.

I think the poetry is especially strong in this issue. In addition to the killer poem that was granted the cover this period there are pieces about the Wicked Witch of the West, death, space, aliens and an amazing prose poem. I know, I’ve really had issues with prose poetry in this past, so the fact I found one so good I agreed to publish it has to say something good about the piece, doesn’t it? The poems run the spectrum from funny to depressing and touch in on a load of other adjectives too.

Don’t think poetry is all this issue has going for it though. No way. There are some pretty amazing stories too. Sentient zombies, an incredibly evocative Asian fantasy story, psychological horror, an undead pig and the end of the world are just a few of the things we’ve got in this issue’s 13 stories. There is even one about a hockey player…let the Canadian editor jokes begin! ;)

Really, this issue is definitely one worth checking out — and perhaps best of all, it’s free.

Contributor’s Copies

May 31st, 2008 by Niteblade

The newest version of Niteblade officially goes live tomorrow morning, though truthfully, it’s more likely to happen tonight LOL The point, really, that I wanted to make, is that the contributor’s copies have all gone out via email. If you’ve got work upcoming in the June 2008 issue and you haven’t received your copy please let me know. The .pdf is quite big and I’m worried it may irritate some email servers :)

June Issue Filled

April 16th, 2008 by Niteblade

The June 2008 issue is now filled. That means if you haven’t heard back on a submission yet, it’s being considered for the December issue.

You know how every time there is a new issue I say it’s even better than the one before? Yeah. Again. The June 2008 issue is going to be amazing. Truly.

Submission Status

April 9th, 2008 by Niteblade

Anthology submissions are pouring in. So far I’ve resisted the urge to start reading them because I want to read them all at once and thus not bias my opinions based on my mood of the day, but it’s getting more and more difficult. Keep them coming though, resisting the temptation is good for my character…right?

The June 2008 issue is almost full and there are a good number of submissions still waiting for me to read. That means, with the September issue being the anthology, if you send me a submission for the e-zine, you are likely submitting for the December 2008 issue. That’s quite a ways away, so I wanted to make sure everyone was aware before they hit the send button on that email.

I’m not trying to discourage you from submitting (except in May when I’m closed to submissions) but I think it’s important to note there will be quite a bit of time between acceptance and publication for the next little bit. :)
